I had to do it. I have been eying this one for a while , did a lil haggling with the guy at our gun shop and grabbed it for $495.00.
I have a weaver v16 for it and burris signature rings and bases, and am planning on the usual tune up, trigger adjustment, glass bed the action , and lap the barrel. He had five of them in the back room of the shop and one on display , so I looked at all of them , out of the six one had its barrel perfectly floated from the factory , the rest were touching on one side. so I grabbed the good one and here I am.

Any advise, tips tricks for the classic? this is my first m700 I am usually a win m70 man , but I wanted a 17 cal sporter weight for a carry rifle when I don't want to lug the full bull encore.
What kind of accuracy are you guys getting from the classic?
Thanks

I like mine. I am currently using a load of 24.2 grains of IMR4320 behind a Starke 25 grain bullet. I have some prepped cases that are primed and ready to try the 30 grain Starkes when I get a chance. Mine does have the trigger reduced to 3 pounds or a little less. As far as accuracy, I would say that mine shoots around 3/4" with some groups closer to 1/2". Mine does copper foul terribly, but I stay on top of the cleaning and it maintains its accuracy. Sounds like you got a great deal.
