Well, I ordered my .17 Javelina reamer and will be having the rig built soon. It will be on my model 700 classic in .17 Remington. I will unscrew the factory barrel, having the action trued and worked over. Then will screw on a 9 twist match barrel chambered in .17 Javelina. The reamer that I am having made is intended for use with the 30 grain bullets. I have left myself some flexibilty to use 25 grain bullets as well, but intend to focus on the 30's. Not sure when I will get around to getting it assembled, but will have the reamer in a few weeks. Oh, the chamber will require neck turning as it is a tight neck chamber. |

Just couldn't stand it, could ya'? You'll like it, it's a screamer. Don't go wild with the freebore on the reamer though. The 30's aren't that much longer than the 25's, and that throat will lengthen on it's own with a few rounds. I'd probably go with zero freebore, 1.5 deg lead, and plan on shooting the Kindler 27's or 29's. Expensive, but I feel they are the ultimate long range bullet for larger 17's using conventional twist barrels. The 8 caliber ogive and boat tail results in a short bearing surface for the length and weight. With a conventional throat, you have to seat them way out there to get close to the lands. I haven't tested many powders in mine as I've had great luck with the few I've tried. Saving the barrel on this one as it's an unbelievable hummer. Viht N-540 works great with the heavies, and Benchmark or N-135 are working great with 23's and 25's. Good shooting. Dan C
