I need load info. for the .17 AH Hornet; Browning Micro, Shilen barrel. Anyone with favorite loads? Also, how do WW 680 and AA1680 compare?

Thanks in advance!

That must be a sweet little rig. I have been looking for a browning micro hunter to convert to AH for over a year. No luck yet tho, they are hard to come by in my neck of the woods.

Where there any other mods that needed to be done other than rebarrel?

sorry no data.

Man I'm jelous.

see ya

I don't think I'll neeed to do anything; may need to open up magazine feed lips a little. Once I find some data and do the minor inletting needed to fit the Shilen barrel in the stock I'll load 'er up and let you know how it works out. By the way, I got started down the path by a 'smith who did a bad job cutting a K-chamber; got it off center some how, must not know what a pilot is used for!

George, you are correct. I shoot a Browning Micro Medallion in 19 Calhoon, which is similar in taper to the 'K' and 17 AH. The front half of the magazine lips just have to be opened up a smidgen and she will feed perfectly.

For 17 AH loads, my favorite powder for 20 gr. bullets is Viht N-120. I run them out at 3800+ fps. Accurate 2200 also works well but is more temp sensitive. Hodgdon 4198 is my favorite 'heavy' bullet powder. I can drive 25 gr. bullets at 3600 fps, and Kindler 23 gr. boat tails at close to 3700. Any way you look at it, that is a lot of performance out of such a tiny case!
