yeah, Already ordered mine 2 weeks ago from bullberry barrel company. The first owners of the barrels will probably be Contender shooters. Have ammo on the way too.

I'll be getting a contender barrel from Bullberry also. I hope to have a Marlin soon for an article to be published in SCN. I am excited about the cartridge and think that it will introduce a lot more shooters to the .17's.

Looking forward to see what you have to say about the Marlin! Don't know if I want one of them or build a .17 HMR on a Remington. The Remington would have to be a single shot. What do you think I should do?

As Corbin said below, it will take some time before supply catches up with demand. I think that you are wise to wait and see what others have to say about them. I am looking forward to testing the Marlin and am looking forward to getting a contender barrel. I will certainly keep you all posted. Time will tell, but I have never been very patient. I'll bet that Fred from bullberry could fit one of your 591's with a .17 HMR - how that would be a neat little rig, probably even make it feed from the original clip.

Nope, don't think the original mag. would fit the new .17HMR Becuse a Remington 5mm is shorter than a .22 mag. so I doubt if a .17 will fit in the clip. And I think I would just as well have a clip feed something else than a single shot bolt gun in 17HMR.

Do not hold your breath for any ammo any time soon. I spoke with Bob at Hornady and he said they have NOT even made the 88,000 boxes that were ordered. The components (17gr bullet) will NOT be offered for sale. As with anything new there is a lot of hype and it takes a long time to fill the food chain with goodies.Corbin

Also have a barrel ordered from Bullberry. Where did you order your ammo. My local dealer deals with AcuSports, but can't or won't order any ammo from them. I heard AcuSports ordered 80,000 boxes. It will be tough having the barrel and no ammo!! Good Hunting from... Varmint Al

Cant reload that brass. But I do hope that it stimulates interest in the larger 17's sufficiently to force manufacturers to start to treat the 17 bore as the mainstream diameter that it should be.
