I have 2 17M4's now, and I have a third one at pac-nor getting a 17M4 SS barrel in 20" and .700MD put on it. I have one really nice 17M4 it is built on a Sako A-1 action and it has a 22" Lilja SS barrel with a Richard's microfit green/gray laminate thumbhole stock on it - it also has sako mounts and rings and a BSA 6x24x42 varmint scope on it and it is a sight to behold. My second 17M4 is a pure coyote rifle built on a M-700 Rem SA with a factory 17 remington barrel set back 1/2" and rechambered to 17M4 it has a Rem. HS precision stock on it. I do my own rem. trigger jobs by replacing the rem. trigger spring with a lighter spring from Brownell's, so that my triggers are at 1.5 pounds. They will both shoot under .500 at 100 yards with a slight edge going to the sako. I will post later next month about my prairie dog shoot in the panhandle, and I will also use the 17M4 on fox and coyotes and post those results, too. Thanks - redfeather.

I love JD's ackley bee built on the Ruger 77/22. It is a nice little gun that flat out shoots. I watched JD shoot a Wendy's cup (large) at 285 lasered yards under less than ideal conditions. The wind was blowing so hard that the truck was moving. We were standing in the bed of his truck resting on top of the cab with bipods only. I then got to take a turn with the little Ruger and also hit the cup. I took 2 or 3 cracks at it with my 15" contender in .17 Rem but didn't connect before JD hit it. I personally have a model 700 .17 rem (classic), and encore barrel in .17 Hebee that is 20" long. A contender barrel in .17 Hornet that is 10" long. A contender barrel in .17 jet that is 21" long. and a contender barrel in .17 Rem that is 15" long. No mach IV's right now.

Remrod, Mine started life as a CZ-527 LUX in .223. Re-barreled with a #2 Shillen finished at 21.75", factory stock, Burris 3X9 in Milette rings. At 6lbs. 11oz's it makes a dandy "walkarounder."

I am just finishing up my rig, its a TC Encore in ss,22" full bull Bullberry barrel also ss with his med grade stock set in satin finish, wearing a weaver v24 and burris mounts.
I am finishing up the trigger work, but now the delema... it is beautiful in its ss bead blasted form , looks great with the walnut, but I am a camo man I am having a bit of trouble working up the nads to paint it.
It is my Kodiak island fox popper and they are probably rooting for a high vis ss finish

Rod: My first 17 caliber Varminter came at least two decades after I began admiiring the little 17 caliber speedsters. I now of course wish I had not procrastinated so long!
Anyway my 17 MachIV is a custom job built on a Remington 700 action. I used a Silen stainless steel barrel 26 1/2" long, 1 in 10" twist and a very heavy contour. It has a Jewell trigger and sits in a McMillan Marksman style stock. Target illumination is by Leupold of course in 6.5X20 variable power. The complete Rifle weighs 12 pounds and 11 ounces and "you don't miss a thing" when the tiny Bergers whop into a Varmint! Accuracy is excellent and no problems with fouling at all. The F.P.S. at the muzzle is a measured 3,527 with the 25 grain Bergers but I truly believe this is some kind of a magic sweet spot for this Varmint projectile. Varmints of all sizes just stop moving at the instant of the hit! Even at this moderate speed. I mean no more movement at all! I love my 17 so much I just bought another last Saturday at the Missoula Gun Show. But this is a NIB Remington 700 Classic in 17 Remington. Can't wait to get it online also!
I have had my 17 MachIV since late 1995 and have taken all manner of Varmints with it and as far as I am concerned there is nothing lacking in its performance at all. I love it!
Hold into the wind

This barrel shoots realy well and it does so with several powders. I have 140 rounds through it so far and have had only 2 groups over 1/2", none over .650, with the smallest at .155.

That Martini sounds pretty neat, who did the work on it? Could you share a picture with us, I'd love to see it.
