I have been trying unsuccessfully to down load the Excel file for 17 Mach IV load data to this forum. Tried copying it to a word file that worked OK, but too small of print too read, also still wouldn't paste to forum here. Would not transfer to a text file at all! Soooo.. If any one still wants the Excel file load data, PM me with your Email addy and I’ll email it to you thru an attachment until I can figure out how to down load it here.

I'm with Ray, great job! Sure would be nice to have the same for several other of the more common wildcats; .17 Ackley Hornet, .20 VarTarg, .20Tactical, .20 PPC and BR to name a few. Good stuff.
Thanks.

Anyone using IMR 4198? I have 2 pounds lying around so that's where I'll start. H4198 looks like it might be the best choice to me though.

vmthtr in Green Bay: Excellent data source, thanks for posting! I've been shooting my M4 for about six years now with H322 and the 25gr Berger, but this list will now prod me into trying other powders for certain.

Ya just gotta love the M4...one of my favorites for sure! :D

Just to make a point, that is not my doing. I got it from someone here, tried looking in my notes and the name escapes me right now. Trying to give the credit for all the work where it is due.

Mike, nonetheless, thanks for posting it, and thanks to whomever originally got all this together; quite a compiliation of excellent data for the M4 enthusiast (me!).

I was out two weeks ago for four days in a ground squirrel infested alfalfa field shooting my Sako M75 in 204 and my Sako L461 Vixen in 17 M4, and in all honesty, I shot the M4 more, and enjoyed it a bit more, despite the slight loss of usable range for the little girl. This puppy has a Shilen 24" SS tube, McMillian stock, Canjar single set trigger, and a Lupy 6-18X Vari-X II aboard; pure squirrel death. 25gr Bergers coated with WS2 over H322 in neck turned 221 cases.

For fun, here's a shot from that shoot with the little Vixen on the bench:

I'll be a 17 Mach IV fan/shooter until my last breath!

Rick:
Good to see you have your Ruger MKII on the ready for a back-up incase those pasture parasites decide to attack in mass, especially since you only have 2 rounds left there on the bench.

Ha! Thanks Larry. That was a good shoot over those four days. I used my M4 alongside my Sako M75V in 204. A shot below of both rifles that shows the little M4 a bit better.

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g66/packrat1/P5071883.jpg

Here's the little sweetie overlooking her domain; the rat-infested alfalfa patch we shot.

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g66/packrat1/P5071881.jpg

Actually that Ruger 5.5" bull barrel is my old MK-I that I had drilled & tapped for a Leupold LG-1 Red Dot sight. Excellent as a "IPDW", or Internal Perimiter Defense Weapon for those sneaky little rodents that get in past "the wire". :D Excellent on rats out to the 50 yard mark with Power Points.

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g66/packrat1/P5051792.jpg

Good to have both handy, as the rats seem to always show up at 25 yards when you've got a cleaning rod stuffed in your rifle barrel.

First I'd like to thank Larry for sending me the spreadsheet!

If you want the spreadsheet you can grab it here --> 17 Mach IV Load Data (http://wrzwaldo.org/reloading/public/17 Mach IV Load Data.xls)

If you would rather just view it as a web page --> Here it is! (http://wrzwaldo.org/reloading/public/17%20Mach%20IV%20Load%20Data.htm) (rifle data removed)

Hello gdragon,

Looking at the newest Hodgdon reloading manual H4198 has some great prospects in the .17 fireball. Lower pressure but still nice velocity.

Rick in Oregon,

Man, you keep a neat shooting bench! I'd be ashamed to post a pic of mine, in the middle of an alfalfa patch battle.

Well, maybe not ashamed but, I do have some clutter. :D
