My wife is wanting to get her brothers and sisters together and buy their dad a pair of binoculars for Christmas. What do you all recommend to be the best for the $400-$500 range in say a 10x42.

My question is what is the best range finder for the money in the $400-$500 range. Also is a binocular range finder combo worth the money. Say somthing like the Leica Geovids?
Thanks much for your help, D

Optics zone has great prices and service. I looked through about 20 pairs of binos. Like scopes, go with what your eye tells you. I just attended a class, that required binos. Lieca Swaro and Steiner were on the line. Everyone wanted to use my Nikon 12x42. They run around $300 and worth every penny imho. Your eyes might say different

. ..... MINOX brand binoculars as they are very reasonably priced and crystal clear glass. ( ask Dan C or Gary W). The MINOX - BD 7x42 BR Binocular can be purchased for about $350 +/- if you do some shopping around.

here is a link for the MINOX BL 8x42's priced at $299.00 (currently sold out).
See link : http://www.eagleoptics.com/index.asp?pid=4638

I use a leica LRF rangefinder and am 100% satisfied. prices range from $400 to $550, best to shop around.

thx CB <*)))>{

I've been living with the Leupold rangefinder and really like the multi-reticle feature along with state of the industry warranty backup.
