would be a good starting point for the 17Tactical. N540 is spposed to give some extra velocity. A 30 at over 4000fps is kinda slow, LOL. Quest for a 20 at 3900 and a 30 at 3900 with the same POI. Brass will last forever and a mag change transition for when fox set generates a coyote.

If you do not mind P/M or email it to me.

Joe--I use a 26" Lilja barreled .17 Remington with a 1 in 9" twist and 4 grooves using the 30 gr. FB HP Starke bullets for coyotes. I use 24.6 gr. of VVN540 (work your way up slowly) and get 3,900 fps for muzzle velocity. This has been a great load for coyotes.

I have been using VVN540 for the heavier bullets in a 17 Rem...I am using 37 gn VLD's and am getting about 3450. The barrel is a Pac-Nor 24" 1:7 twist. I don't know if it burns any cleaner than any other powder.

I have not tried to work up a load with the 30 gn bullets, but may now.

I do like to use magnum primers with that powder.

N140 very fast(4200fps) and very accurate with 20gr V Max. I use 24 grains, but can't let them sit in the sun.

I have been trying to locate N-140 for sometime to try in 19-223 but none of the shops in the area have it. I picked up 550 to try.
