Paid each other no mind.

And in fact, it was the antelope that came to the coyote. I had been watching the coyote mousing around the area for several minutes before the antelope showed up.

Couple more of just the coyote.

You sure get some great shots. Have you ever figured how many hours or days a year you spend in the field.

Hours no, days yes - I average about 60 days a year in the field.

Great pics! I had the same experience with coyotes and antelope this summer. It seems the coyotes hung around the antelope herds all summer, antelope must be their primary food source. I had two calling stands broken up by antelope charging at the incoming coyotes. I guess the antelope are not quite as accommodating here in Arizona :D!

I've seen that before too - antelope chasing coyotes. Have actually seen that more often than the other way around. Have had antelope ruin a couple stands here and there as well!

I have seen whitetail do the same.

Those coyote eyes remind me of my second wife.

I love your great pictures. Kenny

I think prey animals can kinda sense when a potential predator is thinking about them for dinner, otherwise occupied or possibly just not hungry. I'd also wonder if that goat doesn't just innately know that if that coyote put the run on him he'd leave him in the dust so fast it'd be a no-contest race??
Final thought is I don't think one lone coyote would be up to the task of turning that buck into dinner?
That picture certainly gets a guys mind racing about all the possibilities don't it? As always DAA, I'm sure glad you've decided to hang around here and share the fruits of your labors with the guys on this site, it is truly appreciated :).

P.S.
I once watched a doe whitetail stomp the dog-snot out of a coyote that was trying to get into some bushes behind her, I'm sure she had fawns in there. After several attempts on the coyotes part to get past her and her going after it she finally got on top of him and by the time she was done he lit out the other direction like his butt was on fire . When she was on top of him stomping I thought the coyote was as good as dead, she was one P.O'd mamma deer! I laughed my butt off :D. Wish I'd a had a decent video camera for that one and a bit of your skill with photography D, it was only 125-ish yards away and we sure had a great time watching!
Always love the pics D!!

Kenny,
If you're not on wife number 3 now, you soon will be, if wife 2 sees your compliment.
