think i need to change my handle from foxhunter to hand cannon bob . shot what i thought was a large doe tonight with 6br encore pistol at 210 yards. turned out to be a large buck that had already lost his horns, seems early.
about an hour earlier i shot a coyote with it at 190 yards, that's when i reminded my self why i wear ear muffs with this thing.
i have got to get my camera fixed or a new one.

i see that only people with foxhunter in their name have a sense of humor on the forum. moving from new mexico to Missouri i went from killing 10-15 fox a day to only seeing 3 fox in the last 10 years, they were reds at night , seen more coyotes but they won't come to a call. the one i shot yesterday was dumb luck.

Hi Bob,
I really enjoy the single shot pistols, when IHMSA silhouette was big around here in the late 70's early 80's I bought my first Contender, 22lr barrel for the rimfire matches, 7tcu for the bigbore as they called it. 50, 100, 150, 200 meters with open sights, every Sunday. Indiana started handgun deer season in 1987, prior experience with silhouette made it pretty easy.
What kind of barrel do you have on the 6BR Encore?

the side of the barrel say's Thompson center custom shop 6br. the real suprise is the lack of muzzle flash from the 6br barrel.

i started long range pistol shooting in Colorado shooting prairie dogs with a xp-100 221 fb. moved to the tc contender in bull barrel and eventually a xp-100 in 7-08.
took a antelope with the 7-08 at 265 yards.
i'm thinking of an xp-100 in 308 with a muzzle brake as even the 6br tends to jump around to much

i'm looking at taking a deer at close to 300 yards with a little help from nikon force bdc scope. my eyes are developing cataracts so they shut down a little early these days. looking thru the nikon is like turning on a light switch.

the deer i shot last night had one hoof almost cut in two by a piece of wire or a snare. he may have knocked his horns off prematurely thrashing around getting loose.

Did you participate in the Internationals held in Fortville? For years we called it "the Fortville fiasco," remembering just how FUBAR it was. I miss silhouette shooting, even more the friends I made doing it.

No, I did not shoot at Fortville. Luray, Bloomington, Marion county. A good friend of mine ran the range at Luray, that is where I spent most of my time. Another fellow from my home town was a good gunsmith, had quite a business converting XP's to 358 Winchester (local gunshops sold them as "Boyd Ram Machines"), actually used 221 fireball takeoff barrels for tent pegs...
Wow, that was a long time ago!

I can certainly see how you got your handle. You are obviously very keen on your fox hunting

I bet you son liked it in the NT, it is a shooters and fishers paradise.

We have great diving here in Coffs Harbour as well. My dog trainer friend is an experienced SCUBA diver. I have seen some of his films he has taken underwater here and was amazed at the colours of the fish.
