Finally drew an antelope tag here in Arizona with 23 bonus points. After waiting so long I was determined to hold out for a good one and had the entire hunt off. I just couldn't pass on this one and my hunt was over opening morning, one shot at 350 yds from the 257wm. Horns tape 17.5" so I think the wait was worth it. I did get to spend some quality time with my favorite hunting partner, my daughter. She actually told me not to shoot him saying he was too small. That all changed though when we walked up to him.

AB

The meat damage was minimal but the 100gr Barnes factory load blew a quarter size hole going in and out. Broadside through both lungs, never seen so much blood on a animal. Ran out of water paper towels trying to clean it off for the pic. It did do the job though.

csterner,

I have 10 more days to finish the 60 day required drying period, got my fingers crossed that he'll be over 82".

I love "ground growage" as opposed to "ground shrinkage". You definitely got "ground growage" if that stud speed goat looked to small on the hoof, truly nice specimen!! Bet he smelled wonderful huh ;)?
Congrats on the wonderful experience and thanks for sharing it with us :).

last time in Wyo my bud used my rifle to whack a doe. Hit her quartering away with a 95 gr match bullet at 200 yds. She humped up, took two steps and turned quartering the other way. He whacked her again. When we cut into her, it was like a sage $hit-shake...just turned her over and poured everything out. It was the most God awful thing I have ever seen or smelled. I will NOT be using match bullets again and will try to avoid any shot that quarters into/out of the gut.
