After trying various powders recently, H4198 won out and today I shot one grain incriments of this powder to determine a final pet load.
The shooting results netted the following target

The rifle is a switch-barrel, both PacNor 26", 243Ackley and 20BR
The barrels are finished-off identically the same with fluting.

Al,

don't touch a thing and commit that pet load to memory. that will likely be a coyotes worse nightmare !!

how about some pics of your custom rifle .... BAT action, Robertson stock, sounds REAL NICE !!!

Very nice - Your group is 76 thousanths, which is very nice indeed. To be less than 1 thou, it would measure .000760".

you have got a Screamer group. Under .100 for 100 YARDS.
Looks like you have got a keeper there Al. Great shooting.
Looks like I'll have to try that load in mine.

Al,
I assume this is the product of the reamer you had up for sale. Do you still have that? I'm getting more interested every day!

I own all my own barrel reamers and provide them to my gunsmith.
They're all purchased from Dave @ Pacific Tools.
And yes, they are top quality.
My 20BR reamer is .237" no turn Lapua
Good luck with yours

So much for the school of neck turning for accuracy.

Oppsss. Not Stan. Sorry Al my computer messed up your post and lead
me to believe that Stan posted since he was the last one to reply before I did.

The rifle is still sweet. Congrats Al!

My 20 BR uses the exact same .237" no neck turn reamer as Al's and it shoots just like that (when I'm lucky....). So, yeah, no neck turning needed for our type of shooting unless you're DanC who happens to dig turning necks. :D

al-
did you shoot that little hole off of that bipod?

AlbertaAl

At the shooting bench I use a "huge" Uncle Buds sandbag at the rear and a Caldwells mechanical front rest. The system freezes crosshairs on target.
The Harris bipod is the benchrest low model with "tilt" feature and rubber tips on the legs.
The "tilt" feature squares the rifle onto a target very fast on the Chevy truck hood.

I neck-turn my 20PPC at this time and hope to never do that task again.
I'm stuck with it now but next time I'll know better.
There's no benefit...bottom line.
