Hello I'm starting to load for a friend who has a Cooper in 204R. So Far we only have 35g Bergers. Have some 39g BK's on the way. While trying to establish a seating depth for a starting point I was unable to reach the lands with the berger. We pulled a 40g Vmax from a factory load and was was able to reach the lands but the bulet had to be seated way out. I used a stoney point comparitor with .204 insert to take measurements. I have read about folks jumping bullets with some sucess. I'm intrested in hearing about other's experiences with 204 bullets, throats and jumped vs touching.
Thank you.
P.S. probably be a lot more questions to fallow.

I realize you may already know this but I need to say be careful! I would not pull a factory loaded bullet out to reach the lands and fire the riffle. It IS very dangerous!!! Always start low and work up….

Might do a search, seems like this topic just came up a few weeks ago and probably a few times before that.

I am not real worried about the 204 and bullet jump as I have proved to myself that it was no issue at all in my factory CZ riffle shooting factory ammo. I have custom barrels with no jump, zero lead and loads developed just for it and they did not shoot any better???

That said if I am having something chambered it goes without saying to go with a zero lead/short throat chamber for several reasons…. The one issue is to ensure that if it is a 204 Ruger (or other factory rounds) to have the barrel engraved to reflect it and hand loads only because factory loads shot from a short throat custom chamber job will have with dreadful results.

found a couple right quick, I know there are more....
