Hi All:
Just got a couple bottles of X-Terminator and I can find load data for the 223 Rem aplenty, but none for the 221 Fireball. Have any of you guys used it in the 221 Fireball with any success? Plan on trying it with 35 thru 50 grain bullets, but hoping I find a sweet load with the 40gr VMax.
Thanks in advance.

Emailed my inquiry to Ramshot and this is thier response.
Thought I would share in case anyone else may be interested.

Larry,
We suggest the following.

Caliber: .221 Fire Ball.
Barrel length: 24” (Reduce velocity values by ±19 % for 10” to 12” barrels = 300 to 400 Fps)
Powder: Ramshot – X-TERMINATOR.
Bullet weight: 35 grains.
...... Start load: 21.8 grains (3050 – 3150 Ft/p/sec)
...... Maximum load: 23.3 grains (3350 – 3450 Ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 40 grains.
...... Start load: 20.0grains (2950 – 3050 Ft/p/sec)
...... Maximum load: 22.0grains (3250 – 3350 Ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 45 grains.
...... Start load: 19.5 grains (2850 - 2950 Ft/p/sec)
...... Maximum load: 21.5 grains (3100 – 3200 Ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 50 grains.
...... Start load: 18.5 grains (2700 - 2800 Ft/p/sec)
...... Maximum load: 20.5 grains (2950 – 3050 Ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 55 grains.
...... Start load: 17.8 grains (2550 - 2650 Ft/p/sec)
...... Maximum load: 19.8 grains (2850 – 2950 Ft/p/sec).

NOTES:
It’ important to note that SAFETY is our prime concern therefore we strongly recommend.
1. TO ALWAYS BEGIN LOADING AT THE RECOMMENDED MINIMUM “START” LOAD.
2. If at all possible, measure the velocity and correlate with our data.

Thanks for your interest in our powders.
We appreciate your business and interest!!

Thanks for the info, let us know how it shoots. Wonder if you can get 23 grains in the case and still have room for a bullet? I bet you will have to trickle that charge, that is why I shoot 1680 . But, I am not against changing to something better. Keep us in the loop please!

Gregh, don’t know how I missed your post.

I was going do some loading this weekend, but may not be able too. Our oldest daughter just had our first grandchild so may be packing to head too Houston, Texas. Grandshilds name is Audrey, 7lb 9oz born a month early with a full head of hair and doing just fine.

I’ll try and run some X-Terminator thru a 221 case and let you know, but I’m pretty sure if it’s speed your after AA1680 or Lil’Gun will be your best bet. Got a bunch of 1680 loaded already to chronograph so should be able to give a definite answer in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations on the new addition to the family. I shoot usually 1680 20.5 With Rem 7 1/2 primers of 16 grains of Lil Gun. I am interested in what you actually get with the other powder. These loads run around 3525. I am playing with some 5744 just for kicks. Up to 17 grains so far. Luv the Fireball!
