I have the 50's but haven't shot them yet. This is all I've found.

Hopefully, you have a 1:11 barrel which might not even group so well. The 1:9 is ideal for the 50 bullet weight.
I usually check the manuals to read about the parent cartridge.
According to a Nolser manual, W748 was best in the accuracy and velocity departments for the 40 & 50 grain bullets.
So that might be a start powder with 24.o grains and working up in .3 grain incriments using a ladder test and chrony.
You could try other powders that you have on-hand in the same general burn rate.
RL10 has been working great with 40's in Tac20 and it might also be the magic powder for the heavier 50
I'll be interested in your findings !

I don't believe you will have any problem with the 1:10

Please report your progress on this. I am in the process of having a 20 TAC, 1 in 9, 26" put on a L461. I will report back on when I have some results myself.

27 gn 748 3700fps. 27.5 gn 748 3750fps. These are poping out of 26.5" Lija No. 5 on a L461.

This is a local smiths longer version/shorter neck of a 20tac.

Is anybody else having a go with 50 gn projectiles in a 20tac

G'day Mudgegonga,
those are impressive results. Can you just confirm they are using 50g Bergers!I'm hoping to get similar speeds out of a larger case using a lot more powder. What weight of 748 fills those cases?
Cheers Dugald

Yes I am using the 50gn bergers. I have worked up to 28.5 748 with 40gn Vmaxes, 3960fps.

10x does it better and cleaner for the 40gn. I have not tried anything else for the 50gn.

Around 3900fps for the 40gn and 3700fps for the 50gn looks to be sustainable at this stage. Primer pockets are Ok but extraction is getting sticky above these speeds.
