I have shown pictures of it before but here is an update. It arrived back from the gunsmith today who octagoned and fit the and chambered a Shilen barrel in 7mm Dakota, he also fit the Kepplinger set trigger and made a custom base to accept the Talley rings and with the correct spacing to use the Leupold VX- III 2.5-8 x 36 B & C reticle scope. he also blued the rifle. The engraving was previously done by a local craftsman. The wood showed up From Cecil Freddi as well. Now it's off to Ed Shulin to have the blanks roughed out and then to have my stock maker get to working on it.

I guess that will be alright if you like those "fancy" rifles and stuff.

Looks like it is coming along nicely. The Talley rings are enticing.........

This tree decided some one hundred and fifty years ago to grow up and be a rifle stock and not firewood. Congratulations on choosing what would appear to be the most esthetically pleasing combination of grain figure to enhance the Ruger lines I have ever seen. If your gun safe gets too full, I, out of the goodness of my heart will make room and store it for you. I guess this level of beauty, it, cannot be an it. Michael you will have to name her. I suggest Sophia. A classic never goes out of style. Sophia Loren may be an old hammer, but she's a shiny old hammer. regards john

One word, smitten. I can't wait to see the finished product. I already know it will be a thing of beauty, still can't wait.

How do you like that Kepllinger trigger?

P.S. I would like a take off Alex Henry style forearm for my rifle I don't guess you have one gathering dust now?

Sorry ken I do not. Treebone carving will cut one for $50.00 though the last time I ordered one.

I may have to go that route someday.

No comment on the trigger? I've been thinking about getting one.

Got a few more pictures. here is the recessed safety my Gunsmith made.
Operates a lot smoother than the factory, and isn't flopping around like the factory safety, sitting snug in the recess. He used a 1 in. ball end mill to cut the push-on cup area, and stippled it for a nice effect, and then checkered the push-off flat area. All of the sharp corners have been chamfered so they don't snag.
