This is my first build. The pictures include a scope, that will be replaced by a leoupold vxII 6-18. It is a 111 action, with a belle and carlson stock, still ahs factory trigger that I adjusted. The barrel is a Walther 1:11. I changed the bolt head, although I couldn't get the ejector out of the old bolt head. I am thinking that I will like it like that anyway, no chasing brass across the bench. I may fix it later, depends on how it works. Hopefully I can get the pictures to work.

LarryinIA--Nice rifle. Let's see if I can resize the photos to 640 x 480 pixels so they fit this Web site and get your photos to show instead of just the links:

I will figure out how to do it correctly some day. I have yet to shoot this rifle, pending the water going down, my range, or both of them are under water. I will also have to get the new scope in, and mounted. There are a few other things I plan on doing to it. Will keep you all posted.

thanks again

While I am happy with these groups, I still think I need to learn to shoot. These were done the same day, all with 40gr Bergers. Wonderful bullets. I had loads with both Benchmark, and Varget. The three best groups were .419, .429, and .439. Five shots each.

larry,

How does the long action handle the short rounds? The 17-222 that I've been asking about on here is planned for a savage action (that I don't yet have). The other cartridges that I'll end up with in the future are all short action 308 based, so I was thinking a short action. But if the 204 does fine in a long box then the 17-222 should also.

Thanks
Rick

I load them one at a time, so no problem. I think that if one were to add a follower for the short rounds they would feed fine. In mine, they work ok, but if you were to rush the bolt, they will jam on the way in, perhaps messing up the metplat on the bullet. I haven't addressed it because it is basically a bench rifle. I haven't reinstalled the ejector because of this either. Hope that helps.
