What are used bullet making dies worth? I've seen a set of Rorschach carbide dies for $1400, and a couple sets of steel dies from various manufactures for around $1000 and under. Just want to know what they are worth, assuming all are three die set with punches.
Thanks

chris, a good set of carbide not worn to excess would go in the 1200- 1800 dollar area. steel dies i wouldn't want to pay much more than 800-900 range these would be complete sets with some core seat punches. also this being said i would like to see some current bullets made off of dies to make sure there are no major scratches on bullets. george

Chris...

George is right. Also you'd want to measure those bullets to make sure they aren't out of specs from too much wear. Short of that my vote is to spend the higher price for the carbide dies.

Just as a reference I bought 12 years ago a set of Simonson 6mm carbide dies and a Rockchucker converted press for $1500. Later I bought a set of Rorschach 22 carbide dies for $1500. Prices don't change much for good dies.

It appears that you could buy about any brand, Corbin for example, and hold it a year or two and auction it for the current price and make money... Don't recommend it, but as stated, not unacceptable wear, you get what you paid, maybe more... luck...
