Here are a couple shots of my works in progress. It's a Hall M action, trigger guard, buttplate, and 40 minute rail were machined by me, and the stock is just taking shape with about 1/32 to 1/16 still to come off in the grip area. Not sure of how I am going to shape the forend. Barrel is a 1/8 by Bartlein. I've machined the brake (Vais style) but didn't have it with me for the pics.http://i40.tinypic.com/14ni9ty.jpg,http://i42.tinypic.com/2zemao3.jpg,http://i41.tinypic.com/3161454.jpg

I would leave that bottom how it is. I would carve that forend very Cooper like, buick vents and all. Nice rifle.

JoeZ, funny you should say that, as my Coopers have been the inspiration for this stock. I've been around firearms long enough to have seen stocks evolve from wood to what they are now. I made the switch too, from wood to synthetics, and enjoyed the advantages of synthetics. Buying a Cooper to hunt prairie dogs, and then getting a second one, reignited my appreciation of wooden stocks. I know that a synthetic stock in one form or another might allow for a more consistently accurate rifle, but there is something about the beauty and feel of a wood stock that a synthetic lacks. So, that's where I'm at. I am leaning towards a Montana Varminter look complete with the Buick holes, although I do like the looks of a more rounded, full beavertail forend too. At first, I was going to size the complete stock to Coopers dimensions, but went with a slightly fuller version, as the barrelled action will be considerably larger. Thanks to all the replies.

stoner25mkiv,

I have a Hall S in 6BR 12 tw with a 22-250AI barrel also. My action has a built in recoil lug, makes a great switch barrel gun. It has a McM Hunter Benchrest. It is a standard stock in the rear with a 2.25" flat on the forearm. It work great as a bench gun or a field gun off sand bags or bi-pods. I would like to have a wooden stock like it for an other gun. I will see if I can get some pics for you at home. I think there are Pics of the gun on 6mmBR.com, under Eggs Shoot matches. search for my name,on the site. I can't get there from work.
