No, but yesterday I turned a Mach2 into a 17 Remington FB. Larry

I've used a contender 23" 17 M2 barrel and reamed to squirrel with no issues.

Did you give up on the Shrew idea?

And another one, No,
But I will turn one into a 17 Hunter/Weasel, along with it's other relatives as soon as the PTG reamer gets here, I hope tomorrow.:D

Here is the Weasel series Family Tree: (Hornet Parent Case)
17 X Short Tail Weasel = 2.5grs useable case Cap=2400+fps 20''bbl.
17 Super Short Tail Weasel = 5.1grs useable case Cap=3000+fps 20''bbl.
17 Short Tail Weasel = 8.3grs useable case Cap=3500+fps 20''bbl.
17 Long Tail Weasel = 9.7grs useable case Cap=3800+fps 20''bbl.
17 Hunter = 12.7grs useable case Cap = 4000fps 20''bbl, (17gr bullet).
17 Weasel = 15.6grs useable case Cap = 4000+ fps (20gr bullet) 20''bbl.

Rabbit series Family Tree: (223 Parent Case)
17 Pigmy= 5.6grs useable case Cap=3300fps+=24''bbl.
17 CottonTail= 8.5grs useable case cap=3800+24''bbl.
17 BlackTail= 12.3grs useable case cap=4200+24''bbl
17 WhiteTail= 16.1grs useable case cap=4400+24"bbl.
17-221 = 21.4grs useable case cap=4200+ (20gr) 24"bbl
17-222 = 26.0grs useable case cap= 4400+ (20gr) 24"bb.

I will be going for a shrew, I'm just in the planning stage. I need to get a donor rifle and the reloading stuff, I'm hoping Woodchuck den will have them. I have 8 projects going on currently

I've used a contender 23" 17 M2 barrel and reamed to squirrel with no issues.

Did you give up on the Shrew idea?

Eight projects, well that will keep you busy till mud seasons over.

Let me know how the shrew's is coming along when you get you all the stuff together.

Don, are you looking for apprentices?

Ab, As a result of being retired 5 months now, I am BORED, and as my Grandmother use to say, "Idle hands are the Devils workshop", so I guess I am attempting to be active untill this blasted weather clears up.

How am I going to mentor you, IF I DON'T KNOW what I am doing???? :D

I just take the sizing die and it's 20 some sizing buttons with 3 different angles for shoulders, grab a handfull of brass and start changing angles and lengths then run the spec's into QL and out pops a possible usefull? case design/info.

I can tell you that using the sharper angled shoulders is easier to form with than shallow angles like 23* etc, which is the Rabbit series family tree, reason for using that angle, was I can use lots of different factory dies in the 221/223 calibers to use as form/sizing dies, by cutting off as needed etc.

The Weasel family tree is using the 30* angles for shoulders, with the total case lengths of:
(Hornet Parent Case)
17 X Short Tail Weasel = 2.5grs=.600" case length.
17 Super Short Tail Weasel = 5.1grs=.800" case length.
17 Short Tail Weasel = 8.3grs=1.00" case length.
17 Long Tail Weasel = 9.7grs=1.200" case length.
17 Weasel = 15.6grs=1.400" case length.

The Rabbit family tree is using the 23* angles for shoulders, with the total case lengths of:
(223 Parent Case)
17 Pigmy= 5.6grs=.750" case length.
17 CottonTail= 8.5grs=.900 case length.
17 BlackTail= 12.3grs=1.100" case length.
17 WhiteTail= 16.1grs=1.300" case length.
17-221 = 21.4grs=1.500" case length.
17-222 = 26.0grs=1.700" case length.

Working on the 40* shoulder angles, (Ferret Family Tree), but I am meeting with some problems using the standard .473 case head size.

I am hoping that one of the members will take pity on this OLD F--T and post some pictures of these Small Caliber family Trees for our site to use. I can't figure out this picture posting thing ,YET.

More later,
Don
