4.6x30 vs 5.7x28
just wondering if the 4.6 case is any stronger than the 5.7 case?
extractor groove seems to be smaller which could mean a stronger head. other than that i can't see any real difference for 2mm in case length. head size seems to be about the same though actual chamber drawings don't seem to exist on the net. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...hings/46-1.jpg |
The 5.7 case looks a little bigger in diameter, but it might be because it's positioned slightly closer to the camera. I guess you would have to form both into a wildcat with the same shoulder location and angle, and then determine the case capacity.
Other unseen differences might exist such as ease of resizing. I recall you had some problems with the Velociraptor that required an insert for the primer hole in the shell holder. I have no idea about the strength of the case. |
The nice thing about the 4.6 brass that I have handled is they don't have the coating on then that the 5.7 cases have.

It probably will become more common, as I know it was picked up by a military organization last year. I won't get into who specifically that was, but I know 600 PDW's were purchased...
