Looking for opinions
 

I going to rebarrel a Kimber Montana 223 and can't make up my mind if I should go with a 204 or a 17-204. Obviously this will be a lightweight Predator rifle, but one I want to play around with using different loads and bullet weights. Plus, I have a Grandson who has become a hunting partner. Shooting my 17 Rem is something he loves doing.
I have a Kimber Montana I rebarreled to a 17 Rem. and an original Kimber Montana in 204. Oh, and I have 223's.

Any idea's or opinions?

If you are using for coyotes. I’d recommend 204 Ruger. I’ve shot coyotes with 17 Rem, and 204. Both are effective, but I get a lot more one shot instant kills with the 204.

Yes, Coyotes would be the main Predator.

What about 6x45?

Not to interested in going with a 24 cal. bullet. Wanted to stay with either .172 or .204.

You have the 17 Rem already, so put this one into a 204 R, especially if it will be used mostly on coyotes. That way you have the best of two fine calibers. Bill K :)

killed a coyote or 2 with a 17 and a 204. always took a second shot with the 17 during the get well whirls. had to do it a lot less with the 204.

Hell of a deal.

I've only had to make ONE finish up shot on a coyote
out of a couple hundred.

Hit a running away in the spine, it just laid there watching
us as it couldn't move. .17 rem to the heart.

Always used a .223 or .222mag, same thing, same load etc.

204 ruger and 35gr or 40gr Berger bullets on coyotes.

It seems the 204 overwhelmingly the winner. I was kind of surprised, but this is one website where I trust the advise of the members.
My Boss who owns Accurate Innovations voted for the 204 also.
I'm a Lilja barrel lover so they will get the nod once again.
