Martini Cadet stocks?

Hi Everyone,

Over the years I have used Ed Shulin for Martini Cadet stocks. He had a stock duplicating business and patterns and did an outstanding job. He passed away in 2010 and a fellow named Rick Shay took over his business, but he does not answer any e-mails yet still has a web page Stocksmith.net

Does anyone know of another place to get Martini Cadet stocks?

Much thanks.........Bill

This guy has a couple to pick from, I have 2 of his, one in a stock 12/15 and the other a Montecarlo style rollover with varmint forearm. More importantly he has them in stock, 3-4 days from ordering it.

Another is Wenigs, they have a couple styles also and theirs will be finished out a little better. Both of these companys will use your wood but you'll pay more than if you just let them use their wood.

I've never used Treebone carving, I have used CPA, won't use them again. The BIG issue with any company you pick is the way they drill the stock bolt hole. If not done correctly they can turn your nice piece of Walnut into kindling.

I'm not sure what's up with Rick Shay as I got no response from my emails and his open end pricing, ie 80.00/hr made me look elsewhere.

I have used TreeBone carving and George does a good job but the comb of the stock is cut more for iron sights and too low for a telescope.

When I asked George to carve one with a higher comb his answer was NO!

So, I too want to know about this other Shay person and his carvings.

Gunstocksinc wants your blank to be 2.5 inches thick and some of my wood is not that thick.

Macon Gunstocks has carved a stock for me but it is a bench rest variety stock - very large.

Keep trying as I too need help.

Interesting thread. I have a Martini to restock and I was going to use Treebone but if he doesnt want to work with a guy then... He does have a nice butt plate.

Maconi's turned me off as well because of the sizeas well.

I am in the same dilemma here.

I'm currently in the middle of a project with Mark Wieder at Jack's Mountain Gunstocks. I'm building a pattern to turn 6 sets and he's sending the pattern to me for mods. I will snap some pics when I finalize the pattern and once I'm done I'll park it at Jack's for awhile so members can use it to turn their wood if they want. One feature of my pattern will be the ability to sand the grip off and create a straight wrist and more of a classic line rather than the hump back look of some of the rollovers out there.

IIRC, a Model 12 shotgun stock can be made to fit....

You make a good point. In fact that is how Macon carved my stock on my Martini 12/15 heavy gun. Bryan started with a Winchester Model 12 shotgun stock and carved it to fit a Martini.

The through bolt hole and general shape is very close to the Martini. Bryan carved my stock from a Winchestere Model 12 Monte Carlo trap gun pattern.

Problem is it is way too big and heavy if you want a field gun.

I think I'll hold off and see Mr. Miller's fixings. I think he will be the one that solves the problem.

Much thanks to everyone..........I will also wait and check for postings or maybe when they are ready you could let all the people that made a reply posting know for sure.
