Good experience, George, I'll take special note of that. This isn't a spendy gun by any means and you'll see when I post pics (plain ol' NEF HB). The only reason I bothered with it at all was that...

Oh! We shot a couple boxes of 30-06 sabots in the 80's. The Win 70 held about 1" normally but those sabots would do 6"@100; good enough around the farm yard, though. Never checked it for keyholing...

Oh! Thanks guys! I saw some old, oil-finished guns that had a dark reddish color and thought they were stained beforehand. I will skip the staining; thanks for mentioning that, impalacustom! Joe,...

thinning linseed oil?

Howdy all! I'm doing a gun resto this week. I'm sanding the stocks down and plan to stain them and then finish them in linseed oil - just because that's what I got. It's really hot and humid in MN...

I like 17Rem of all the 17's at this time. I push 25hp's at 4360fps and start to get cratered primers (Rem 7 1/2). All in all, I think the reason to go with the larger case is for pushing 25gr+...

Boiled linseed oil on scope rings?

It was recently suggested to me to add a wee bit of linseed oil to the rings when mounting a scope as it will harden and help lock the scope in. I never heard of this before and wanted to ask you...

Glass is comparable and them seem to use almost the same duplex reticle between my SII and Weaver V-16. The objective is a tad stiffer to turn than I prefer on the SII. The Weaver has slightly...

I've managed to avoid 223 my whole life. I've fired them and they seemed to fit the bill as far as a 'general cartridge'. Just seemed boring, so I went with other things. Anyways, over time I...

H4895 might be good for the moderately reduced loads I'm trying to achieve.

According to this, I can take it down to 60% of max listings. If this...

I 'm planning on doing a bunch of testing with 223 Blue Dot loads. Is there a prefered primer for this? I would like to use my Rem 7 1/2 because I got a lot of them. Does anyone...
