I wasn't inpressed with that combo but have gotten...

M-IV aka 17 Furball
Haven't used a fireball die to size brass for my !7 Fireball but have been using the Mach IV dies and brass on hand.
One thing I've noticed is the M-IV brass has a narrower shoulder than the fired...

Thats the first step in the process----make them 221's then down to the 17 with full length dies and almost always a little neck turning...Leave the initial 221 case a little long before...

I have a 17 Rem upper, lightweight 16" barrel--PacNor--1x10..
I would recomend you get a 1x9.
Would also recomend a longer than 16" barrel although this one is like a feather compared to a bull...

Best I could get with the 16" AR barrell was...
Best I could get with the 16" AR barrell was around .700 using around 25.9 gr H 380..
Berger 25 grainers were about the same..
Not really what I was looking for, but not that bad either..

I've recently been trying to get some 30 gr .172 bullets to shoot properly out of what as far as I can tell is a 1x9 twist 17 Remington barrel..
I get patterns anywhere from 1.291" to 7 1/2" or not...

Just noticed that Midway is going to offer a 17 caliber 20 grain HP in their Dogtown brand.. Due out 1/23/08... $10.99 per 100 ea.!!

Now you know why most of us spend the time on reforming 1x 223 or virgin 223-222 brass. It's the stinking quality of the Rem stuff that sucks. Getting only 1 firing from a batch of formed cases...

They obviously fit my Mach IV snuggly as I too had the forming blues getting them to chamber. I did, however and they fit snuggly and worked...
