I use 23.5 gr VV135 with 25gr Hornady HP's Moly coated 17 Rem. in a 1-9" Shilen. This load shoots in .2's-.3's for me. Many a PD met its demise with this rifle out past 500yds even !

That was 25 gr vmax I use in 17 rem, 20gr vmax in 17 ack hornet. The 25 gr vmax in 17 rem is a deadly long range load for me. Shot many PD's out to 500-550 yds.

The 6 x 47 has been around for a long time - necked up 222 mag. This is what the 204 ruger came from. The 6 x 45 from a 223. In the Contender they had the 6 TCU a very similar cartridge.

The biggest difference is a wider range of adjustment. I think though on the smaller action Coopers 38's especially nothing looks better that a 1" tubed scope.
