Fine work, Dave; masterful across the board - photography, shooting, editing and production, as usual. What are you seeing with coyote numbers this year? Most folks expect the drought to make things...

.224 Jeta?

I was in a LGS today perusing the used rifles. There was a sporterized Arisaka (nicely done). It was fitted with a Remington (probably 722) barrel indexed so the original sight dovetails were...

I done this exact rechamber. Run the reamer in and you’re done. Mag works as is no mods necessary. Easy peasy.

Young kids

Nearly 30 years ago I took a Remington 510 bobbed the barrel and chopped up the stock for my kids. Looks a lot like a Chimpmunk with a bull barrel as I didn’t taper the barrel. Made a great .22 for...

Maybe a .17 liner and rechamber of the Rem 581 I bought several years ago and never shot.

Sounds like

You ought to give Manson Reamers a call and discuss your criteria. You'll probably get a lot opinions from folks here, but it's a much better to have a two-way conversation with whoever will be...

If you want to keep it a .22H and not rebarrel to .17 AH, you might ask around for a take off from the folks that have rebarreled to .17 AH. I have two micro medallions and a micro hunter. The...

I'm wondering

If say, some 18 or 19 year old takes the same tactic as the gay couple that had a bakery refuse to bake them a cake and sues on the basis of discrimination, age discrimination in this case, what do...

Good advice

I'd do what Chuck said--if you can. If you take off the entire chamber and all the threads you can ensure the chamber is true to the bore, tenon is threaded true, etc. If not, any/all issues with...

Maybe not

Could be I'm completely mistaken. Had that happen once or twice in the last 60 years.

I could be wrong

I guess I could be wrong--maybe it wasn't a Colt but I remember it sticking in my head that I didn't know Colt made wood and blue rifles; Colt always brought pistols to mind. There was that Mattel...

Interesting thoughts

I'm pretty sure it was brand new, though I really didn't give it more than a passing glance as I was pretty much set on a Swift and he didn't have one. i do remember it was quite petite and I'm...

Colt .17 Remington

Back in 1977 when I was still pretty much a kid, I bought my first varmint rifle. I didn't want a .22-250 because everyone had one. I ended up with a Ruger .220 Swift that was incredibly accurate...

Yes

But that was quite a long time ago in a Winchester Model 43. I didn't see any difference or benefit. I imagine small pistol primers would hold back the potential of that cartridge in a stronger...

Grafs

It looks like the Grafs 5.7 Johnson basic case is just a .30 carbine case with the correct head stamp. The text says it needs to be "sized and trimmed" but I'm guessing it needs formed and trimmed. ...

Something to try

It's possible that clocking the fired brass might tell you something (then again, maybe not). Sometimes you can verify a chamber irregularity by marking a loaded round on the case head with a...

Yup

That's good advice for anything! But if it turns out all the fussin' that lead to reducing the mating distance between the die and shell holder was an error in judgement or math or some such, it's...

Die

And don't trim your die. Always trim the shell holder to pick a few thou extra in sizing instead, if you need to go that route. Much cheaper to replace a bungled shell holder than a bungled die.

MontDoug

Doug "recently" did a .20 AH on a CZ527. He ought to be able to give you the scoop on that platform for a build.

Thanks for the replies

I'll have to hear more about the Fiocchi brass and if it'll hold up well to repeated firing to go the 4.6X30 route. It'd make a neat package, but I'd hate to build a rifle around some brass that's...

4.6x30

So I came by some by some 4.6X30 Fiocchi brass for a (much into the) future project--Rem 591 conversion. Before I go any further with what's now just an idea, is the Fiocchi brass worth messing with...
