I make start gathering 'loose parts' in the garage.
Stock: NICE grain taken off a CZ 527 .221FB that was made into a 17M4 and put into the Varmint Kevlar stock for stability between Georgia's and Montana's differing humidity [no warp]. The new walnut CZ stock is sitting on top of my safe,,,waiting for a project.
Barrel: I have a .250 Savage AI barrel that is a super accurate Shilen. Has maybe 75 rounds through it, several 3/8" groups with 100 Nosler BTs. Chamber is too large for my preferance [used an old solid pilot reamer] and would do well as a PPC/7.62x39 creation. Left it 24" long so plenty of metal left for cutting away.
Plenty of .25 bullets around, even a batch of Starkes for bench target fun.
I have just recently bought a CZ 7.62x39 carbine and although a .308"x39 reamer has been ordered, it can easily be a "switch barrel" rig. If one has the correct wrenchs, any rifle is a "switch barrel" candidate.
....maybe just not 'in the field'.
I would love to rebuild my .250SAI with a minimum spec reamer so this Shilen would be 'offered up' for a new rifle.
Just following along with the post.
