Default Thanks, Guys

I KNOW it will get easier.........about the 14 th time.

Appreciate the help.

Zeroed scope today (cheapie one ) and took a few "work up" loads to the range.

A. 52 gr HP hornadys dont shoot worth snot in this 1-16 twist. (POI was 8-9 inches off from the 50 grain SXSP and LARGE groups)

B. 50 gr SXSP shot "ok". I didn't expect wonders from hunting bullets and virgin brass. Waiting on some 45 grainers.

C. Highest loads taken were 12.6 grains of LGun and shot the best with zero pressure issues visible.

So...just a start but "good enough to kill a coyote" for now but work in progress.

MIGHT have done a little better had the buddy I went with went first. I noticed a definate PROBLEM with front pad on the rest for the forearm as in it MOVED very easily but since this guy is a friend and didnt want to appear ungrateful of his help, I didnt say anything and shot the best I could, stuggling to hold the ding dang X hairs still on the target.

When I was done and out ammo he sat down, sat his 700 17 Rem down on the rest and said "What the heck is wrong with this front pad?" and promptly screwed the front pad down on the spindle complaining about his grandson "messing with his stuff". ( I checked it later.......like a rock. )

So...anyway.

Old, half blind, in a bit of a rush, virgin brass, only a few bullet selections and a few loads, a wiggly rest, new to the gun and trigger and not being much of a "bench guy" (cant think of any other "excuses" lol)......I cant complain.

50 grain SXSP
12.6 grains Lil Gun
WW Small Pistol primers
WW New brass
approx 10mph x wind

200 yards.

Second group, same combo, I shot five shots and realized quickly (aka at 4-5 shot) that cooling the barrel for max groups would be mandatory (and normal IMHO). Same results for the first 3 but shots 4-5 were 2 inches out. (coulda been yours truly too)

A start. Had fun and after a couple clicks of fine adjustment I'm "huntable" at least. Hope that some other bullets, neck sizing, crimping and load tweaking shows improvement.

I was a little surprised at the few that came around asking about( "a WHAT?" ) 22 hornet.

Just info.

God Bless
Steve
