Have the bore scoped if possible before buying. If the pitting is significant, your investment will be less valuable. I found this out the hard way last fall when I purchased a long wanted Pre -64 Model 70 in .22 Hornet that I wanted for shooting both cast and jacketed bullets. Sent it to Gordy Gritters to check over including bore scoping and tune. Gordy quickly called back with bad news- significant pitting ahead of the chamber. A new barrel is being awaited. Just be cautious!
