also IF the original barrel/chamber has had many rounds through it, it could have some hardened and/or firecracking in the immediate bore by chamber. Some don't care to run a nice sharp reamer into that hardened area. Firecracked bore could release micro chips that could chip or dull the new reamer's nice sharp cutting edges.
Also as said, no guarantee the new reamer will 'clean up' the old chamber if not set back - not only a thread, but some like to set back a 'neck length' for extra 'clean up' insurance. If many rounds through already, just wait on the new barrel and get great results. |

For sure I'm glad I asked the question.
Received a letter just today saying the customs & excise man has my barrel blank and it will be with me on Tuesday. Thanks for the excellent advise,Ken.
