Can any of you fellers give me the max charge of AA1680 with 32's and 39's for this .20 VT?
Don't want to blow things up and can't find any data til this thread. I'm not a max shooter but, I do like to know about where it is so I can avoid problems.

My first test loads were a bit low vel's and I'd like to step them up a touch.
16.4gr: 39gr BK's 2960
18.0gr: 32v'm: 3360 32 b k: 3403

I'd never had a clue about getting this cal until a yr after buying six jugs of powder so I only have a few compatible with this loading. I'd prefer to stick with 1680 for this one as I have a fresh jug of it and only one other use for it: .17x28 takes 10.1gr=3460/20vm

Thanks much, feel free to e'm, or pm direct.

You can download a PDF file with Accurate Powder's load data here:

http://www.accuratepowder.com/load-data/

They have data for the .20 Vartarg with A-1680 powder and 32gr. Blitzking and 40gr. V-Max bullets.

My fireforming load is near max with the 32gr. Blitzking and I'm getting about 3700 fps and great accuracy. Looks like you are right near max with the 32-grain and about half way there with the 39-grain bullets, but with less than predicted velocity for both. Could be the powder, could be the rifle.

Are the cases forming OK with the 32s? Shoulders sharp?

Default 17 FB to 20 VT

My last run of brass for my 20 VT i ran 17 FB brass through my 20 VT resizing die which opened case mouth to 204. I have zero problems with 221 FB or 17 FB forming to 20 VT.

Default 20vt and Remington 221fb brass

I ran 500 new 221FB brass through my Redding 20VT FL S die set to my Cooper chamber and didn't have any bad cases. 100 of these were bought from Cabela's and 400 were from the guy selling 221 brass here. I just started loading the 20VT and the first 100 of 221FB brass I got last year from Cabela's had about 5 bad case necks that I had to throw away.
That makes me feel better about Remington brass.

Is the X=Terminator powder temperature insensitive?

I have taken 82 groundhogs so far this year mostly with the 20 Vartarg!!!!! I love this round. 412 yards is my longest groundhog taken so far. 32 SBKs work wonderful on the Hogs here in Southwest VA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have replaced the Weaver V-24 at this time with a Leupold 12X both scopes work very well for dialing from my chart on targets and groundhogs out to 600 yards!!!! Just installed a new scope on my Vartarg. Weaver Super Slam 4-20x50 and me and my little Brother have made our first kills. Leupold 12x is back on the Vartarg Love that scope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
