The BR4's or CCI 450's will be good for you, in some cases the hotter primer can really reduce peak pressure. The Remington 7 1/2 primers, even though they have the same thickness case as the BR4 or 450, is made of much softer material and will pierce or flow much easier than the 450 or BR4 does. Lots of testing in my 17-204. Larry

You are right Dean. The Hodgon Manual show 16.0 grains, H 4198, as max with WSR primers for the 25 HP bullet at 3576 fps. Looking at the 17 Rem FB, which is a little bigger case they are using the Rem 7 1/2, and about 1.0 grain more H 4198 and getting quite a lot more velocity for similar pressure. However IMR 8208 XBR gives even more velocity with less pressure at 19.2 grains http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle. The OP should be able to run up to 18.0 grains in his Mach IV, safely, but work up slowly. IMR 8208XBR or Ramshot X-Terminator, http://http://www.ramshot.com/wp-con...2016_Web-1.pdf, are the best choice of powders to use in these two cartridges.

Just took a look back and find that I addressed this issue in 2012 and took flack from sicero. http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20853
