I don't know what you mean, so the answer is probably no.

I checked the volume of a few fired WW 22 Hornet cases and got 0.91cc. Carbine brass seems to vary a lot from one headstamp to another, but I got a bunch of LC brass that I've been using and some fired LC 22 Spitwad cases measure 1.08cc.

I'm sure it could go faster with more pressure or barrel, but I don't run the Hornets all that hard either. For a hotrod 22 I've got the WSSM to turn to.

Oh! Now your question makes sense. No, I've never tried LG. I have a bunch of WW296, 297, and 680 that I use in Hornet-type things. In these small cartridges it looks like I'll be using it for a long time too.

TKS. W680 is long dead from production, but sure worked a treat in a bunch of rounds. The last of it (several tons), was bought and sold by Hodgdon as H116.
None of that make it up here to Canada that I am aware of.

I still can't find 40gr Zmax for sale, so I think they've been discontinued. Anyway, I've been cutting down more tracers for plinking and I'm experimenting a bit with the length. If I cut where the lead in the tip stops, then the shank ends up pretty short. So I'm trying some cut a bit longer. This leaves a longer shank, but then the back starts to hollow out.

I agree that the Z-Max are not being produced anymore, can't find them either. Try the Nosler Varmagedon or just look for V-Max on sale. You have an interesting project going there. From my experience and your info, would think AA1680 might be perfect for performance, accuracy and pressure in that cartridge. Keep us posted.

RP Hornet cases (brass not nickle) hold 1gr. more than WW cases.

The v-max bullet is the same as the z-max, only the color of the tip is what is different, so said Hornady. Bill K
