Default 8208 in the 20 TAC

I did a search for the above, but found nothing. I am interested if any of you have been using 8208 in the 20 TAC w/40 Vmax?

Just for your information, I have had extreme accuracy in the 223 using 8208 w/50 gr. Hornady SP shooting in the .3's at 200 yards. I cannot do that everyday, but the load and gun are capable.

I use it in my 204's with good results. Also in my 223 with 50 vmax @ 3400 very accurate. I have no exp. with 20 tac.

Just went over to hodgdon's site and was surprised at the options between the 20 tac and 204. I would have thought them to be much closer.

I have noticed that Hodgdons and AA seem to do little about the 20 tac. Kind of funny they don't do any testing. I think I will start 2 grains lower than the 204 loads and work up as I do not know any alternatives.

Thanks

You may be able to extrapolate from case capacities, I get a hard bolt lift in my 20BR with 32 gr bullets and 29.6 to 29.8gr of 8208. Best accuracy is at 29.4gr. 8208 is extremely non-sensitive to temperature, so should make a really nice powder for year around use. Larry

Default 20 Tac.

Lenard; I was shooting 40 V max with 26.gns. of 8208 CCI 450,
AND WAS TOO HOT, had to back it down a little when it got hot outside. It was fast and pretty accurate. With 40's CFE was more accurate and fast for me. good luck! sgtg out

One of the things I noticed with 8208 in the 223 was, very small deviation in velocity even when increasing the load by .2 tenths. My first accuracy node was at 25.4 with only 3250 and the second at 26.4 with 3400 fps. That was 1/2 a grain over maximum but it shot so well. (50 gr Hornady SP)
