Default 17 AckleyBee, Killer Bee vs. 17 Jet

How do 17 Ackley Bee and Killer Bee velocities compare to 17 Jet? 17 Jet uses the more plentiful .357 cases, but do you use Magnum or Maximum cases?

Products that I am looking for but can't seem to find no matter how hard I look:
Leopold Scopes, Forester reloading equipment and Victorianox knives.

I video recorded all of my Highpower Rifle matches. Pretty soon I am going to watch them all in reverse order so that I can watch those F Class guys GO HOME and leave us alone so that we can shoot Highpower Rifle.

When I had a bullberry 17jet I used max brass because it had a long neck chamber.

360 DW brass from Starline works well too for the 17 Jet

Default 17 Jet

The late Mr. Dick Saunders published an entire spiral book titled 17 caliber shooting. Before he passed away I ordered his book and it is very good. The 17 Jet out paces the other two 17s that you mentioned. Case capacity is greater for the Jet.

See if you can contact his wife and perhaps she will sell you a copy.

I am finishing a build in 20 Jet Improved and it looks very good to me.
21.7 grains of 2200 might be working load 4,200 fps
22.1 grains of 2200 max? 4,300 fps

The above work is for a 20 Jet Imp using a 24 grain Hornady bullet, not the 17 Jet.

Use caution when loading subcalibers as they tend to really jump chamber pressure as one goes up the scale.

.17Ackley Bee.
These all had Kindler's wax.

:14.2gr."""""""""--------""""""""""""""""""""""""-----""""""""-------4,012fps
:14.4gr."""""""""--------""""""""""""""""""""""""-----""""""""-------4,039fps

When I switched to moly coated 25gr.Horn. HP's my vel. dropped 117fps with the 15.1gr. Rel# 7 load, to 3,686fps. Lot 2500
I then worked up to 15.3gr.Re#7 lot2500 and was still only at 3,748fps.
Switching to BR4 primers, 15.2gr. produced 3,783fps and 15.4gr. produced 3,821fps. These were all summer shooting, with temps 70F to 80F.

During the next winter, -3F (-20C), I went up to 15.5gr. Re#7, BR4 and was rewarded with 3,630fps.

I show 20gr. Vmax from a 26" Pac-Nor 3-groove barrel (SakoL579) with 12.0gr.IMR4227 running 3,8750fps. LOW Press. - with 12.4gr. WSR primer not vel. recorded but 5 into .477, 4 of which went .158" fireforming.
Seems to me buddy Len chronographed 12.4gr. H4227 at 3,995fps when fireforming - might have been during the winter.
My GM barrel produced 4,150fps with the 12.4gr. load, which was noted as being on the edge of too hot for summer shooting.

Edited to identify these last loads as IMR4227 - forgot when I posted this.
Buddy's Len's 26" pac-nor bl. fireforming.

Daryl,
Thanks. That is probably running neck and neck with my 17 Fireball, If I had to guess.

Love my 17 AB, and one thing I've learnt is that the target doesn't care if the bullets doing 3400, 3800 or 4200fps.

As long as I do my part the bullet hits where I want it to
