wilson barrels
Has anyone used the Wilson barrels offered by Ragged Hole Barrels? I just received one in 12 twist for my 22-250. I scoped it and in my limited knowledge it looks good. If it shoots as good as my Coopers I'll be satisfied.

Wasn't too long ago that someone talked about Wilson barrels being used by EABrown. If they do, you'll be very satisfied with yours. I am. Tom.

Cooper uses Wilson barrels as you mention. Both my model 21s in 204 Ruger and 223 shoot extremely well. Interesting, I just bought a 17 cal #4 from him yesterday as well.
Here's the 204 at 100 yards off of a rolled up sleeping bag. (Now, if I can only figure out how to resize an image on this site) Last edited by ben lurkin; 12-06-2017 at 02:47 AM. |

Ben:
Not only missed the spot, looks like you had the shakes from that huge group! Never had or tried a Wilson, got a cheap A&B from Midway once. TEN shots: .230" half dozen times to prove it wasn't a fluke. True, but, teasing you!

Short story. Wanted to build a wildcat and didn't want to spend BIG$$ on a barrel and not be happy with the results so started looking for a barrel that I didn't have to spend a fortune on.
Had a Guy direct me to one of the Auction sites where a couple of Wilson barrels were for sale. Bid on both but only got one. Cost me $125.00. Was told by "my Guy" (old and very oppionated) that Wilson barrels were CRAP because they wern't lapped. Has him chamber it up anyway. Turns out it's one of the best shooting and easy to clean barrels I own. Bug hole shooter!! Would I get another one? In a heart beat!! |

If you own a standard non-special order barrel Cooper rifle, there's a very, very good chance that you own a Wilson barrel.

You WILL get a Wilson barrel as the owner of Wilson barrels also owns Cooper.

In the mid 1990's, Winchester used Wilson match barrels in their series of M70 Heavy Varmint Stainless Steel rifles, the ones with the black H&S stocks with the aluminum bedding blocks.
Wilson also made military barrels (Cr-Mo) for ARs at that time also. Not sure about now. I built a 20"HBAR and a 16" CAR heavy barrel back then using Wilson barrels. Shot pretty well also, but that was all using iron sights. |

The best way to screw up a group like that is to shoot more than one shot!
