Leupold will replace older scopes with a newer comparable model in some situations based on issues. I'd rather have this scope rather than a new one on the rifle. They can probably repair this one if necessary but I'd rather not have to find out. A few years back I sent in an older Leupy 7.5x scope to have it cleaned as there was a small spot on the inside of a lens. For some reason they replaced it with a 6x scope that has half the flair of the older 7.5x. -BCB

Wow!
That's a fine looking rifle! Looking forward to seeing the range report on it too. WD

All went well at the range. Originally the rifle shot dead on bullseye for elevation and about 2" right at 100 yards so I move it over a bit and up about 1.5" and all moved exactly like you would expect and hope for. Parallax adjustment seems spot on, and the scope focused well at 50, 100 and 150 with the needed changes to the parallax ring. I couldn't check it any further today. Based on everything I saw, it's staying on the rifle..........
As for how the rifle shoots, I don't have any targets to show, but it keeps 5 shots well inside of an inch square at 100 yards, and it doesn't use up much of the square to do it. I shot 50 rounds through it and accuracy was good for all 50. Overall, I'm very pleased................... Now the only question remaining is what does one guy do with four 17 Remington rifles? Even harder to contemplate is which one of them to get rid of if I can't handle having all of them. The stress of it all is simply too much for an old man to consider, so I guess I'll just leave well enough alone.... I'm in the process of cleaning the barrel right now and the first patch of copper solvent showed only a hint of blue. Life appears to be good........ BTW - the trigger is excellent. No creep and it breaks very evenly at a consistent just over 2 pounds according to my trigger widget thingy. -BCB

Excellent.
Just rotate all four when shooting colony varmints and you probably won't over heat any barrel. |
