I've also looked at a L61R. #314, guy says it's a one owner gun that's 25 years old and fired 18 rounds total. I didn't think they made that model 25 years ago?
Thanks for all replies,Ken.
The action alone could fetch that price here in the US. Is the bbl pitted on the inside or outside? The AIII version of the L61R action was discontinued around 1982. The AV version was discontinued around 1991. If it is stamped L61R it was made prior to 1978.

The only problems that I came across with some of the older Sakos in larger calibers is that the bolt guide would jump over the keeper springs and slide forward along the bolt body and end above the locking lugs and lock up the action .Not a common but did happen occasionally.

Old Hawkeye, the barrel is pitted inside, so useless.
Thanks for replies,Ken.

Finally got one.
Sako L579 Forester 243. SN 98311.
Original owner passed and allegedly fired it less than 50 times. One or two dings on the wood, but the blue is near perfect. Cost was £350. Including a box of carts.
Ken.

Ken:

Didn't know about the dings in the wood.
IF not too bad and you want to try it.
Soak a cloth laid against them and hold a hot iron
on it to steam the dent out. IF you go easy it shouldn't
cook the finish and just raise the wood.
Is the finish cracked there? IF it is, this should work even
better. I've only done it once many years ago.
