The only problems that I came across with some of the older Sakos in larger calibers is that the bolt guide would jump over the keeper springs and slide forward along the bolt body and end above the locking lugs and lock up the action .Not a common but did happen occasionally.

Finally got one.
Sako L579 Forester 243. SN 98311. Original owner passed and allegedly fired it less than 50 times. One or two dings on the wood, but the blue is near perfect. Cost was £350. Including a box of carts. Ken.

Didn't know about the dings in the wood. IF not too bad and you want to try it. Soak a cloth laid against them and hold a hot iron on it to steam the dent out. IF you go easy it shouldn't cook the finish and just raise the wood. Is the finish cracked there? IF it is, this should work even better. I've only done it once many years ago.
