Default Running a 22 k-hornet reamer inn short

Hi

Still working on my 22 k-hornet project, i have gotten a 1-7" twist blank and the factory weihrauch 1-16" barrel.

The thing stopping me at least for now is trying to research if someone have used a 22 k-hornet reamer and reamed the chamber about 0.150 short to make a k-hornet case lenght of 1.25" is this possible and shorten the dies the same amount ?

Getting custom reamers and dies to norway takes 20 weeks pluss.
The weihrauch mag only takes 1,8" coal and loading 70gr bullets in a regular hornet will make the gun singleshot

Not done the K Hornet but my gun smith has done a few others for me. When you run the reamer in short , the base of the parent case comes into play. Just measure up on the reamer the amount you run in short. Compare that dia to the base of the parent case. If too tight you'll get a bolt click when you open the the bolt, you need about .003 to prevent the click. Good luck

Curious, what are you doing with the rifle? Do you need a repeater? Why not just seat the bullet deeper in the case? I realize seating the pressure ring of a flat base bullet or the bearing surface of a boattail below the sized portion of the neck can adversely affect accuracy.

Long ago there were several Hornet wildcats shortened to fit revolver cylinders. Names that come to mind:

22K-Hornet Jr

22 K-Chuck

22 Snapper and Long Snapper

Probably some more but memory is fading.

PPU brass would probably not want to chamber, but WW and RP might work out.

No reason it would not work, any brass used would just need trimmed to length and maybe a slight shoulder set back and formed to the new chamber for the first round of firing. Keep us posted on your progress.
