Default Viht powder for 20 tac

I’ve been running 8208 xbr for years but I can’t get my hands on it and I’m running dangerously low. I have been able to find relatively decent supplies of most viht powders faster then imr or Hodgdon powders.

I’m running both 35’s and 39gr bullets. Which viht powders should I be looking at? N133, n135 or n140

Their data site does not show any loads for the 20 Tactical. It does show some use in the 204 R. Maybe see what you think and possible try their load, but start lower.

In an article I read about the 20-223AI years ago N135 was recommended as a good match so it should work well in the 20TAC with 35-40gr bullets also. H4895 works real well, maybe the IMR version too but haven't tried it. Not in my shop right now but IIRC I am using Benchmark in mine with 39 Sie.

Use N540 for the 39gr. Sierra, 40 gr. V-Max bullets.
N133 for the lighter bullets, Hornady 24 gr. NTX, etc.
These powders work really well in both mine and shooting buddy's
20 Tacticals.

Ideally I’d love a powder to work for both my 223 from 50-75gr bullets which I know isn’t the case normally and 20 tactical 35-40gr. I can’t seem to get my hands on any hodgdon powder or imr powder hence why I’m looking for viht powder

Do you have decent temp stability with n540. I know it’s really Ramps up speeds but I thought 100 series was better temp stability. I won’t be shooting anything lighter then 35gr bullets. Mainly 35’a and 39’s with the odd 40. Both barrels are 1:11 and 1:10’twist

Haven't had any temp stability problems with either powder. When were out shooting,
p-dogging , it's from sunrise to about 9 or so. Nice and cool.

Curious, did you or your partner give VV140 a try ? I have some and am thinking about doing so, with a couple of my rifles.

I gave 140 a go in the 20 tac with Badger Bob's 46.5 gr RBBT 20 cal. bullets.
Accurate.

Did you ever get a chance to try it with lighter bullets? N140 works with my 223 but also almost out of powder. Will be giving it a try but was thinking n133 or n135 would be better.
