Cooper Mod 38 17 AH barrel length
Anyone know what the standard barrel length is. If I recall correctly it's 22" but I'm not sure.

Guns not handy or I'd measure them for you.
Believe one is 24" and the other 22" though. Just thinking is all. Short one was set back and rechambered.

After a very long wait I finally got the rifle back from Cooper. It was sent back for accuracy problems and apparently need a new barrel. Left with a 22" barrel and came back with a 20" barrel. Must admit it is rather handy with the shorter barrel but have no idea how it will impact velocity. Have to decide to keep it as or send it back and begin another long wait. Any input will be appreciated and especially thoughts on the question of velocity.

You'll be fine. I have an xp-100 with a 14" barrel. I give up a little speed but it shoots great. Killed a lot of prairie dogs with it. But if its not what you want then you'll be happier if you send it back again....

What velocity do you get in that 14-inch barrel? I am wondering because I am buying a silencer and was thinking of a 16 to 18-inch barrel for a .17 Hornet on a TCR-87 so that the overall length of the gun would still be reasonable. Don |
