I was nice but firm in my inflection in this speech to the family members.
A couple days later I was in my garage shop and saw the pliers on an out of the norm location, on a shelf,.... right where I then remembered I had last put them.
My second and biggest mistake was telling the family...
Now my turn-
I grumbled privately to my wife that my favorite needle nose pliers were missing. (I had a personal policy not to hassle my 2 boys about missing/misplaced tools as to not stifle their "creativity" as they were home schooled. My hero grandfather with 6 grandsons would turn us loose at the same time in his shop to be "constructive." I never heard him complain in our presence that he couldn't find anything!) Anyway, 2 or 3 years later I had a sprinkler head go bad, and in the process of digging it up, I "found" a rusty pair of needle nose pliers! Dang!! Judicious use of a wire wheel bought them back to almost new...... and I did own up to it to my wife!! Glad I didn't hassle the boys over it !!

Only have the one Son but any tool I owned that was useful to him disappeared mysteriously, I'd inquire about them and his Mom would berate me for thinking he'd moved them. When he got married and moved out about two medium sized tool boxes full of tools suddenly reappeared..I was vindicated for all the good it did me, lol.

Well, I'm not exempt from getting an old memory either.

I've been looking around at gun shows & on-line for another Leupold 6.5x-20x for a project.

While digging around in my safe I found one that I had stashed away & had forgot about! Trying to keep things in a positive perspective I keep telling myself "Look at all the money I saved!" DUH!......LOL

Ramos:
The one that hurt me the most. Had just cashed my last
paycheck before leaving for the Army. Boss called and said
he: "Had to have me help fix a sugar beet digger before I left."
Sure as hell, no one ever found my wallet with over $700 cash in it!"

I started this "missing tools" thing when I was young and wrenching
for a living. Third man in a 2 1/2 man shop trying to help them get
caught up. I only had one set of tools then. Every now and then I
couldn't find one and would go sorting thru all the boxes in the shop.
Til one day I found that wrench in my own back pocket! First thing from
then on was: "check your pockets!!"

I've found over the years it's easier to have a dozen or 29 sets of tools to
stash everywhere I might want one than it is chasing to the shop, or truck
after them. Couple days ago i moved a box in a bedroom and it's full of
tools! Couple I've been looking for even.

I hae founda better method. I moved into a great neighborhood where several guys are car gays, gun guys, woodworkers. THEY have tools! I have beer.

Had beer.

Well I got the barrel and it was just like it was advertised. I’ll be interested in selling it for $200 shipped (or trade) if anyone needs one.

Until I get mine listed here are a couple like it currently listed

Hah, I don't even worry about losing things anymore. I know I'll forget all about it in a few minutes.
