Need expert die guru advice

To get by, I ended up using Loctite and threaded the (too short) RCBS 17 caliber expander spindle into the threaded die cap until it was close to being flush with the top of the cap. This gave me good thread engagement and placed the expander well into the body but not enough to deprime which is ok since I use an universal decapping die. Worked good enough on 200 rounds so far. Next time I won’t need it it as I normally neck size but this time it was definitely needed as part of the DW 360 case forming process.

Still looking at other options and/or to have dies made up.

one up for you. Don't know about the tip end part though.
That's pretty small. Figure I'd break that off the way I do things.

Had the shoulder fixed Monday. Doing well so far. Just two holes
on the off side 3/4" apart. Am not stressing it for awhile in hopes
it'll heal like it should. Sling is just a weight on my neck so I took
that off Tuesday. Mowed the lawn today.

Doc said: "three months on a knee". Told him I hoped it would be 3 months
'and not 7 like this shoulder promise of 2-3 weeks ended up 7 weeks. I'd sure like to get 'em both replaced by years end. "we'll see".

I think it’ll be good now. I was going to machine down the locknut to install under the die cap but there wouldn’t be much material left to csllnit a bit anymore

I'm glad your shoulder surgery went well. Hopefully the knees turn out well too.

Don't stress your new shoulder much buddy, cartilage takes as much or more time to heal than bone.

How many days has it been since the operation?

On a different note, have any of you guys considered using this loaded with the hollow cavity pointed forward for a close in quiet load in a small .172 cartridge?it supposedly comes in at .368" in length.

It ends up as 2.8 for stability using a 1 in 9 inch twist at 850fps.

Yes, 4 real, 21gr FAC rated PCP air rifles. Made in .177 to .303. All of the piledrivers are very, very heavy for the caliber @21 gr for the .177 caliber pellets, but they are available in 4.46mm or 4.50mm base diameter. They are a dual diameter and basically ride the lands with a drive band at the solid end opposite the hollow base. They will obturate just fine is my guess, I will soon find out Tuesday.

Most airguns are not able to shoot these well at all because the twist rate required is a 1 in 12" where as most airguns are equipped with barrels having slower than 1 in 16" twist giving about a .700 stability factor which pretty much ruins hopes of accuracy.

A 1 in 9" twist will remove that problem of stability and give a 2.4 stability according to JBM. Couple that with that hollow cavity base and I think it will do quite well on rabbits if shot backwards with what is essentially a huge hollow point.

So, I received the pellets, marked 4.46mm, or supposedly .17559" . Nope, not at all that size. More like .177" at the drive band. So, made a small push through die to size these and discovered that if I lubed them that they seated in the .172" necks of the once fired brass.

I found out later that the brass neck of my once fired brass is tough enough to size them by seating the pellet.

I'm going to try them over 1.12gr H-S 700X.
