OT. Short barreled .38 loads
Anyone know of a source for .38 snubbie loads? I want to shoot heavy hard cast bullets.

If you have been purchasing the Hodgdon Annual Manuals, there was an article in one a couple of years ago. If you don't have it, PM me and I'll work on finding it and getting it to you.

if you want to replicate the 158 sjhp "fbi load" rim rock bullets sell the bullet made from dead soft lead which is designed to expand at snubby velocities https://rimrockbullets.com/xcart/g-c...-ammo-box.html i've heard 5.4gr of Unique as one replicating load.
Here's a link with some more recipies. http://smith-wessonforum.com/reloadi...-fbi-load.html |

OT. Short barreled .38 loads
Or for snubby loads, load a full wadcutter, but backwards, with the hollow base hitting your subject, dead center. Bill K

tried that to no avail with hornady swaged wadcutters. maybe better luck with a different type. I did load a berrys dewc up to a decent velocity and those are fun.
I think I still have the most fun with my home casted 158 swc gc'd bullet over 5.5gr unique, cheap, fun, and a handful! lol I gave some 200gr bullets to a co-worker to try in his gp100 with 38+p cases @ near cylinder length and he used power pistol I think. said they had some snap to them. |

38s and 357s are NEVER off topic anywhere ammunition is discussed.
SInce most loading manuals use a 7 inch barrel for this caliber to do their load development, don't worry about specific loads. |

I shoot LOT'S of SWC's with 3.5-4gr Red Dot in mine.
When I was in practice before these shoulders were replaced I seldom missed 8" disc's at 35 yards and put 'em all thru a 4'sq target frame at 100yds until they changed the rules to"No pistols on rifle ranges." My recycled bullet metal from the berms comes out at 147gr. IF you need some to try, pm and I'll send some n/c. I shoot the 642-1 Airweight hammerless.
