I just loaded 100 of the 17 HH, Privi formed but not fired brass on my Dillon 550B and it worked great but I used 20 grain Vmax over 9.7 of Lil'Gun. Will be interested to hear how the 25 grain Vmax work in the 17 HH too. I have a bunch around for my FB.

It is a 1:9" so i see no ill effects, just a tad slow.
http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/364-ce...7_VARMINT.aspx Nah 3350fps is no problem and with the better BC it will sail on. |

If all goes well with the trip, I'll let you know how they work. Just loaded up 100 of them in hopes of beating the breeze better than the 20's..All is dependent on my memory to do that when I get back home. Tom.

I've been shooting 25gr. Hornady Vmax and HP's long with Berger 25gr. HP's for years in my AH. They work just fine in that rifle. I acknowledge the HH is slower by about 200fps, but they should be just fine. I've used AA1680 which was great, along with Lil'Gun which was also great in the past. I've also used H4227 with the Hornady Hp's.
I'd think some of the slower powders, like H322, H4198 or IMR 4198SC, AA2200 and AA2230 might be good with the 25's in that case. I'm in the middle of testing those powders now in my AH.

curious
I'm curious as to how this shakes out. I've got 3 17AH's, 2 of them 9's and 1 10" and none of them will shoot this bullet inside 3"@100yds using N120, 1680, RL7, and IMR4227. One is a Cooper and the 2 others are customs using Lothar Walther and MRC barrels. I've got a CZ headed my way, maybe that's the ticket.

I haven't made time to test reloads in the .17 Hornet with 20 grain V-Max's yet as I'm still fire-forming WW cases, much less try the 25's. I do however have a load worked up for my .17 Ackley Hornet using the 25 grain V-Max. My .17 Ackley is a 1 in 10 Pac-Nor Super Match 3 groove and it shoot the 25's just like it does the .20's which is real good.
Almost exclusively I shoot the 20 grainer's in the small cased .17's but I see no reason the 1 in 9 CZ .17 Hornet shouldn't shoot the 25's as well as my 1 in 10 Ackley does when a lot of guys had issues in the 1 in 10 twists with the 25 V-max. Let us know how it goes for ya so we can cheat off your homework .

I have had a play with them in my Cz American, 25gr v-max 13.1g of H335 at about 3100fps, and 1/2 inch or less for groups. this is my best load. still trying seating depths.
Brass seams to be the big problem, any once fired hornardy brass is twice the group size, of unfired hornardy bulk brass, have yet to try the prvi brass. I am hampered a bit, due to lower magafication scopes, |
