I would definitely want published data on any loads that are getting

3900fps or 4000fps from a 30gr bullet with a 20.5"barrel.

I did it and nothing blew up is not sufficient. Kenny

Is there published data for wildcat cartridges? I'm looking at a Lane Scorpion 556 suppressor for my rifle, anyone have experience with that brand?

Been hunting with it for three seasons now, about three hundred rounds fired, couple hundred+ dead coyotes, without a hiccup.

Hodgdon Annual Manual used to have many of the wildcats rounds listed.

Sorry to say, they no longer list wildcats but I bet there is someone here

who has one of the older Manuals with these listings who might shed some

light on the 17-204 case.

Another good source of information is Hornady.

You can call and talk to one of the tech guys.

They are all shooters and don't seem to mind.

I've never loaded without published data, but know to start low and work up slowly. I have searched and found useful data, but asking you guys with .17-204 experience to chime in. Thanks.
Give me your case capacity in h2o to overflow and your OAL and I will run you a QL prediction.

Do you need the OAL of a loaded round? And to the ogive or tip of bullet?

Base to Tip. It helps establish case capacity at that length.

Ok, I came up with 32.35 grains of water measured with a RCBS 5-0-5 scale. These are grains, not grams.
For an AOL (base to tip) I came up with 2.231", which is .01 off the lands. That is a reasonable starting point for seating the bullet I think.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to do this, another reason why Sabier.com is the best!

Based on a case capacity of 32.35 grains here are some starting and max loads with a pmax of around 62K. Load to velocity not to charge weight for a safe load. Also, data is for a 26" bbl.

SL=starting load
ML=max load

Big Game SL 24.5 grs ML 27.8 grs or 4107 fps
H414 SL 25.5 grs ML 28.8 grs or 4118 fps
Varget SL 23.5 grs ML 26.2 grs or 4062 fps
Benchmark SL 22 grs ML 25.1 grs or 4054 fps

Thank you! My barrel length is 22".
