Default Opinion???

Looking for opinion in brass selection: Which is better--all the same headstamp disregarding weights OR all the same weights disregarding headstamp?

If it were me, I would stick with the same head stamp/brand AND weigh them to match as close as possible, if I were taking the extra time to do so. Bill K

Default Brass

While we are on this subject I have a Question to throw out there too.
Which do you prefer?
and has Anyone tried this?
sort cases by empty weight.(which most of us do any way).
or
measure internal volume.
(I filled my cases with H380, then weighed the powder).

I measured internal volume on some WW 220 Swift brass and the IV no where matches the empty case weights.

I haven't shot the IV weight sorted method yet to see if any difference can be determined.

I sure premium brass like Lapua might not show much difference.
But the WW 220 Swift Brass had a wide weight spread in both methods.

any thoughts or experience with this?

Unless the brass was all fired in the same chamber, measuring the internal volume would be meaningless.

Default 0pinion?

The reason for the question is that I have been using some LC brass that I've processed and fire-formed as 6 TCU. I have had luck shooting more one-hole groups with weight-sorted cases without regards to the year headstamp; while groups shot with same loads with same headstamp/year yield larger groups. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience.

b.t.b.
Hope you are as happy with your 6TCU as I am with mine (CZ). What action and barrel is yours?
Bill

Default Opinions?

I shooting a Snowy Mountain SA barreled with a Krieger #13 bedded to a McMillan Hunter BR stock. I have been shooting 55gr. Sierra Bks using a variety of powders, but favoring AA2200. It is the most accurate rifle I own.

bumtownbutch,
I'm interested what velocity you are getting with the 55 gr. bullets, if you've fired any over the chrono.
Thanks, Ken.
