Default CCI 450 17ah

Have a bunch of them. Anyone use them, and if so how do they work?

Would guess this applies to 17HH also.

Thanks,

Craig

I used them in mine, seems good to me, I also used the BR4's and could not tell the difference between them. Larry

I can tell you from experience that the 7 1/2's are much softer than the 450's or BR4's are. Pierced lots of the 7 1/2's in my 17-204 and all the 450's look perfect. Larry

Default Larry, if my memory is accurate...

... Remington had a bunch of 7.5s that were defective and caused a lot of bolt face etching.

Craig, I've had good luck with WSRs in just about everything I tried them in. Daryl, I think, tooted pistol primers for use in the 17AH.

This was the primary reason I had Greg Tannel bush several of my bolts. This is just another place Remington has "fallen short" in recent years.

I have some very old .223 brass formed to 17/223. I anneal it every 5 times shot and it refuses to split a neck. The problem lies in the primer pocket expanding to the point were a #400 falls out. I use #450's in it now and they stick in there just fine and I noticed no difference in accuracy.

The 400's have a thinner cup than the 450's and BR4's do. Larry

That is a famous chart, from it you could assume that the Remington 7 1/2 and the CCI 450's or BR4 would be equal in their pressure handling abilities. However this is absolutely not true at all. The material used in the 7 1/2's is much softer than what is used for the BR4's and 450's. My 17-204 will pierce the 7 1/2's every time while the same load with the 450's look perfectly normal. So it is really just a size chart and has very little to do with the amount of pressure they can handle. Larry
