Default not small caliber 250 savage aibrass

i know several of our members shoot this caliber. here is 6.5 creedmoor hornady brass (Right case) necked down and ready to fireform in my 250 ai. winchester only makes a run of 250 savage ever few years, so brass can be hard to come by.

Looks like that Creedmore case is/was designed for an automatic rifle. I'm looking at the deep, wide extractor groove, like on a 7.62x51(.308) case- of course, it is the parent.

I'd like to know how the case volume compares after it's fire formed.

I don't have a creedmore but I'm excited they came out with it. For years I thought about necking a 250 Savage up to 6.5mm. I have a 6.5x50 arisaka carbine but brass is slim pickings. It is similar in case capacity. I enjoy when manufacturers take a wildcat I've thought about and make it factory available. My problem is I built a 260 ai while waiting and it fits the bill. I've heard awsome things about the 250 savage ai. Its everything the Roberts is but small case capacity and recoil in a shorter gun. Reminds me of the efficiency we strive for in small calibers.

daryl the creedmoor is based on the 22-250 case i.e 250 savage or original 30-06.
looks like it will make excellent 250 savage ai brass.
everyone i talk to who has the 6.5 creedmoor loves it, i would like the ar version.

bambob i will check the capacity when i fire one, last i checked the winchester brass was 51 gr of h380, exactly same as the wssm 25.

A good way to make 250 AI brass IMO is to fire-form 22-250 brass "bulletless" (w/ inert filler) in your chamber. A wide range of choices exist for 22-250 brass, and no dies required!

Looks like it might be a tich longer than the case beside it. The extractor groove appears to be standard auto-loading design - large and deep - not like the .22-250 or .250 Savage case beside it - this was my observation.

Also, when you use 22-250 brass and fireform it up to 25 cal, the neck walls get slightly thinner, but also any thickness variation is reduced a tad as well.
